'Dutch men have an exemption of emancipation'

In the Dutch HUMAN-programme De Publieke Tribune (NPO2), Managing director of the LDE Centre GMD and assistant professor Mark van Ostaijen talkswith Dutch Minister Ingrid van Engelshoven, responsible for emancipation policies.

Mark van Ostaijen reflects on the role of gender and diversity by posing that we should grant men a position in our emancipation: "we have a structural problem with emancipation policies in the Netherlands. Men have a dispensation of emancipation. They are exempted from emancipation. We never dare to say that men play a big part in this issue."

According to van Ostaijen it is therefore important to have this debate and start to break down these structural issues in our society.
