Fadumo Barre

Hi! My name is Fadumo, I am 25 years old and currently pursuing a Master’s degree in Sociology, specializing in Urban Issues (Grootstedelijke Vraagstukken en Beleid) at the Erasmus University. Prior to this, I completed a bachelor’s in social work at Avans Hogeschool.

I am pleased to introduce myself as one of the two student-assistants at the LDE Centre Governance of Migration and Diversity. In this role, I support the organization and development of the Leergang Perspectives on the migrationsociety. As this is the first edition Leergang, my work mainly focuses on organizing sessions and administrative tasks.

Beyond my role as a student assistant, I have a strong interest in social and public issues, including migration, human rights, policymaking, diversity and inclusion. I am motivated to contribute my academic knowledge and practical experience to the development of the LDE Centre. I am excited to take on this role and to further develop my experience in the fields I am passionate about.

Paula Peerboom

Hi! My name is Paula, I am 23 years old and currently a master’s student in International and European Union Law at Erasmus University Rotterdam. Before starting this master, I completed the bachelor’s programme Management of International Social Challenges, also at Erasmus University.

I’m very happy to introduce myself as the new student assistant at the LDE Centre for Governance of Migration and Diversity. In this role, I support the centre’s communication and organisational activities, helping with events, projects, and outreach.

During my bachelor’s studies, I developed a strong interest in policymaking, governance, and international migration. I am particularly passionate about human rights and social justice, which is also what motivated me to pursue a master’s degree in law. My academic background closely reflects my interests in justice, diversity, human rights, and international policymaking.

I’m excited to be part of the LDE GMD Centre and to contribute to its work through my role in communication and organisation!

I am motivated to contribute my academic knowledge and practical experience to the development of the LDE Centre. I am excited to take on this role and to further develop my experience in the fields I am passionate about.
