Alex Huang is an executive project officer and researcher at the Leiden Delft Erasmus Centre of Governance of Migration and Diversity (LDE GMD). He is an alumnus of the Master’s programme in Governance of Migration and Diversity and holds both a bachelor’s and a master’s degree from the Erasmus School of Social and Behavioral Sciences (ESSB).
At LDE GMD, Alex supports the strategic coordination and governance of the Centre’s interdisciplinary research, education, and societal engagement activities. His work operates at the intersection of academic research, policy development, and institutional practice, with a particular focus on migration and diversity governance, inclusive knowledge production, and societal impact.
In parallel, Alex serves as project officer for the Diversity & Inclusion (D&I) Office of the ESSB faculty, where he contributes to the development, implementation, and evaluation of faculty-level D&I policies and initiatives. His work focuses on strengthening institutional approaches to equity, diversity, and inclusion within higher education. For his contributions in this field, he has been nominated for Erasmus University Rotterdam’s Student of the Year Award and the ECHO Awards.
Alex co-coordinated the Master’s Honours Programme Tackling Inequalities, which combines academic training with community-based learning and engagement beyond the university. He has also been involved in the Vital Cities and Citizens research project, contributing to collaborative and methodologically innovative approaches, including social network mapping, aimed at engaging under-researched communities and generating socially relevant knowledge.
His academic and professional interests include governance of migration and diversity, intersectionality, belonging, and the role of higher education institutions in addressing societal inequalities.
